New Delhi: Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday visited the forward positions at Lukung in Eastern Ladakh. During the visit, he reviewed the newly inducted weapons and equipment for the Indian Army. Lt General Dwivedi, who is currently on four days visit to Ladakh, took stock of the security situation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) where the Chinese troops are on the other side.
The region witnessed violent clashes between troops of both sides on the night of 15 and 16 June 2020 in which 20 Indian soldiers and 38 Chinese troops were killed. The Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh has also witnessed skirmishes between soldiers of the two countries.
The Northern Command of the Indian Army tweeted three pictures of Lt. General Dwivedi examining a newly inducted field gun, a 51mm Light Machine Gun and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The Northern Army Commander appreciated the tremendous contribution of the Indian Navy and Indian Airforce towards operational readiness of Northern Command in the true sense of Jointmanship.
Lt. General Tamul Verma, DG EME, also visited the recently established Tanks Medium Repair Facility in the High Altitude Area in Eastern Ladakh and complimented the unit for operationalising the facility to enhance mission reliability in record time.
