New Delhi: Lt Gen Vipul Singhal has taken charge as the new Commander of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps (XXI Indian Corps). He took over the command from the outgoing Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth. Indian Army in a tweet said, "Lt Gen Vipul Shinghal took over the command of the #SudarshanChakraCorps from Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth. On assuming command, he exhorted all ranks to focus on operational preparedness & continue working with utmost zeal & enthusiasm."

Sudarshan Chakra Corps is the premier Corps of the Indian Army in peninsular India. It is based in Bhopal.

The history of the Corps dates back to 1917 when it was raised for operations in the Middle East during World War I and then again in 1942 during World War II. The Corps was demobilised after both the major campaigns.
