New Delhi (DW Bureau): Indian Army celebrated 33 raising day of its Sudarshan Chakra Corps on 18 May 2022. On the occasion of the 33rd Raising Day of the Corps, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding and veterans paid homage to the brave hearts who made supreme sacrifices for the nation and laid Wreath at Corps War Memorial at Bhopal.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, GOC exhorted all ranks of the elite formation to renew their pledge of Service Before Self.

The General Officer also thanked veterans on the occasion for their service to the nation and Sudarshan Chakra Corps in particular. He reassured us that the formation would always strive to look after its veterans.

The Corps Commander also inaugurated the Victory Garden in remembrance of fallen heroes.

Sudarshan Chakra Corps is the premier Corps of the Indian Army in peninsular India. It was on this day in 1990 that Sudarshan Chakra Corps was raised in Bhopal.

However, the history of the Corps dates back to 1917 when it was raised for operations in the Middle East during World War I and then again in 1942 during World War II. The Corps was demobilised after both the major campaigns.
