New Delhi: Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi Monday assumed the command of the prestigious 'STRIKEONE'. On assuming command, he exhorted all ranks to focus on operational preparedness and continue working with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.

The General Officer has held varied Command, Instructional and Staff appointments.

Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi has headed challenging Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka, followed by Operation Rayoon in insurgent dominated Assam and Manipur, and also Operation Rakshak in Jammu and Kashmir. During his entire operations, he headed challenging operation Pawan in Srilanka, followed by operation Rayoon in insurgent dominated Assam and Manipur, including operation Rakshak in strife-torn Jammu and Kashmir n Himpaat, finally awarded with reputed Sena medals for his outstanding n exemplary services.

His father Anand Ballab Joshi is credited with being an Assistant Commandant in Central Reserve Police Force, with his patriotic brave son posted as Lieutenant in Indian Army. His wife Ritika Joshi is a teacher in Sainik School rendering training to would-be Army officers. Salutes n good luck to Lt. General Joshi.

1 Corps is popularly known as STRIKE ONE, and it was raised in May 1965 at Varanasi.
