New Delhi: INS Nireekshak, the Submarine Rescue and Diving Support Vessel (DSV) of the Indian Navy is on a visit to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka to participate in a joint Indian NavySri Lanka Navy SLN dive training.

"The vessel will facilitate Mixed Gas Diving training for the Sri Lanka Navy during the ten-day deployment", Indian Navy said in an official statement.

"The ship would be the dive training platform for joint dives of IN-SLN divers on various wrecks in and around Trincomalee", the statement added.

The Commanding Officer of the Indian Naval ship Commander Mohammad Ikram called on Commander of Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral PDS Dias and held discussions on a range of issues including furthering training in diving during the ten day deployment.
The statement added that the visit is aligned with the Indian Government's capacity building effort as part of 'Neighborhood First' policy.

The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art diving systems and is capable of undertaking Saturation and Submarine rescue dives. It is fitted with a Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), which enables her to maintain precise position during Submarine Recue/ Diving and Salvage operations.
