New Delhi: The Indian Navy has participated in the ongoing four days Goa Carnival at Vasco-da-Gama displaying a tableau that depicted the role of maritime force in ensuring coastal security and other responsibilities including rescue and anti-piracy operations.

According to an official statement released by the Ministry of Defence, the naval tableau in the Goa Carnival was based on the theme 'Indian Navy – Combat Ready, Credible and Cohesive'. It showcased amphibious transport dock ship, INS Jalashwa, taking part in Operation Samudra Setu in which the Navy gave relief and medical assistance to people across the region at the time of the pandemic COVID-19.

It also showed Naval Commandos providing security to the fishermen and ensuring safe trade by carrying out anti-piracy operations along the vast Indian coastline.

The vital role played by the Naval Aviation in providing reconnaissance, tracking and destroying the surface and aerial targets with its airpower elements were also depicted. It showed the award of President's Colour given to Naval Aviation.

Besides tableau, a short skit depicting the theme of the tableau was performed by the naval personnel in which Naval Commandos were seen rescuing fishermen from the clutches of pirates.
