Indian Army acquires Mini Remotely Piloted Aircraft systems for high altitude areas

New Delhi: The Indian Army has acquired mini remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) to further enhance its surveillance capabilities in high-altitude areas. The new aircraft surveillance system will provide the force with an added advantage to carry out various missions in the high-altitude areas.

In a tweet, the Army said, "As part of ongoing modernization & induction of niche & emerging technologies at the tactical level, #IndianArmy has acquired 'Mini Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems'. These #RPAs will further enhance the surveillance capabilities in High Altitude Areas."

After the standoff between the two countries following the Galwan Valley clashes India is bolstering its surveillance capabilities along the nearly 3,400-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) through an array of drones, sensors, reconnaissance and electronic warfare equipment to keep tabs on the neighbouring army in real-time and strengthen measures to detect intrusions.

RPAS are a set of configurable elements consisting of a remotely-piloted aircraft, its associated remote pilot station(s), the required command and control links and any other system elements as may be required, at any point during flight operation.
