Bilateral defence ties: Australian Air Force Chief meets Indian Defence leadership

New Delhi: The Chief of the Australian Air Force Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld is on an official visit to India. He today met Indian defence leadership including his Indian counterpart IAF Chief, CNS Chief and Defence Secretary in New Delhi.

The Australian Air Force Chief called on Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation.

IAF said in a tweet, "Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld, Chief of Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force called on Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari #CAS today in New Delhi. Issues of mutual interest and ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed."

Later he held separate meetings with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar. During the two meetings, discussions covered a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including consolidation of bilateral engagements in operational domains.

Both countries, along with the US and Japan, are a part of the Quad — or the Quadrilateral coalition that resolved to work towards ensuring a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

India and Australia have expressed their commitment to building a robust partnership for the security and growth of the entire region.
