Army Chief arrives in Kashmir to take stock of the situation in Valley

New Delhi: Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande arrived in Srinagar on Saturday on a two-day visit to Kashmir. This is his maiden visit to the Valley after taking over as the Army Chief this month.

During the visit, Gen Pande will take stock of the prevailing situation and operational preparedness.

He will also interact with troops and the commanders on the ground. Later in the day General Pande visited forward areas along the Line of Control and was briefed by the commanders on the ground on the prevailing security situation. He also interacted with the troops & complimented them for their high morale & professionalism.

Earlier this month, he undertook a three-day visit to Ladakh, where the Indian and Chinese armies have been locked into a years-long faceoff.

The Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi had on Friday arrived in Srinagar to take stock of the security situation in the valley security ahead of Machail and Amarnath Yatra reviews security ahead of Machail and Amarnath Yatra. Lt Gen Dwivedi is on three days visit to Kashmir from May 20 to 22.
