India and Indonesia hold 9th Army to Army Staff Talks

New Delhi: India and Indonesia held their 9th Army to Army Staff talks in Bali with an aim to foster better coordination between the two militaries on Saturday. The talks focused on joint military exercises, and bilateral training. Both sides prepared a detailed roadmap to enhance military cooperation.

The Indian Army said in a tweet, "9th Army to Army Staff Talks #AAST between #IndonesianArmy and #IndianArmy were conducted in #Bali, #Indonesia. #AAST focused on joint military exercises, bilateral training & prepared a roadmap to enhance #DefenceCooperation between both Armies."

India and Indonesia share deep defence ties. They have also established a 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' with special emphasis on politics, strategy, defence, security and economics. They have been working continuously on strengthening defence ties.

Both the countries also participate in a military exercise Garuda Shakti as part of bilateral defence cooperation.

If we talk about the diplomatic relation between India and Indonesia, the former regards the latter as a key member of ASEAN. Both nations had agreed to establish a strategic partnership. The two countries have a significant bilateral trade.
