White Knight Corps of Indian Army celebrates 50 years of its raising

New Delhi: The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army on Wednesday celebrated  50 years of its raising. The 16 Corps of the Indian Army is also known as the White Knight Corps. The officiating General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj Gen J S Bindra paid floral tributes to the brave hearts in a traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the Ashwamedh Shaurya Sthal in Nagrota Military Station. He complimented all ranks for the high standards achieved while discharging operational as well as administrative duties. He also remembered the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Indian Army said in a tweet, "@Whiteknight_IA completes 50 glorious years on 01 June 22. To commemorate the occasion, Major General J S Bindra, COS in a solemn ceremony paid homage to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at Shaurya Sthal #Nagrota."

The White Knight Corps was raised on this day in 1972 as part of Udhampur-based Northern Command and Lt Gen J F R Jacob was its first Corps Commander. White Knight Corps today is one of the finest operational Corps of the Indian Army looking after the extent of Pir Panjal Ranges to the Shivalik Ranges and also the plains of Jammu and Akhnoor.
