Southern Army Commander visits Western Front Areas to take stock of the Situation

New Delhi: The Southern Army Commander Lt Gen JS Nain has visited the Battle Axe Division of the Command to review the operation preparedness, training and capability enhancement initiatives.

The Indian Army said in a tweet, "Lt Gen JS Nain, Army Cdr #SouthernCommand visited #BattleAxeDivision to review their op preparedness, training & capability enhancement initiatives. He exhorted all ranks to remain focussed & committed with utmost zeal in pursuit of excellence."

THE 12 RAPID Division of the Indian Army is also known as Battle Axe Division. The Division was earlier under Western Command. However, on 03 November 1966, this formation was designated as 12 RAPID Division, under Maj Gen JFR Jacob and also placed under Southern Command.

Headquartered at Jaisalmer, the whole of Rajasthan comes under the jurisdiction of Southern Command.
