New Delhi: Lt Gen Baggavalli Somashekar Raju has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS).
He will take over the charge from Lt Gen Manoj Pandey on Sunday, May 1 2022, when the latter will assume the appointment of the Army Chief.
The Indian Army in a tweet said that Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane has congratulated Lieutenant General Baggavalli Somashekar Raju on being appointed as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.

Lt Gen Raju is presently serving as the Director General of Military Operations of the Indian Army. He has extensive experience in counter-terror operations.
He was Commander of the strategic Kashmir-based 15 Corps before taking over as DGMO. He had also served as the commander of the Army’s ‘Victor Force’ which is responsible for counter-insurgency operations in the volatile south Kashmir region.
