New Delhi: The indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will soon be equipped with American Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits to hit enemy positions with pinpoint accuracy.
According to the Ministry of Defence officials, the Indian Air Force has inked a deal for the JDAM kits. These kits will help in bombing targets with precision at distances of over 80 kms.
The Indian Air Force is strongly supporting the indigenous LCA Tejas fighter aircraft programme by adding more and more capabilities to the aircraft.
The Tejas was recently equipped with the indigenous Astra indigenous air to air missiles, along with the French HAMMER missile, allowing it to take out any hardened bunkers or ground targets at stand-off ranges of more than 70 kilometres.
According to the experts, Tejas is considered to be far more capable than the Pakistani and Chinese joint venture JF-17 fighter jet and with additions like the JDAM bombing kits, the Indian plane would be in a much higher category than them.
