New Delhi: Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Thursday held a video interaction with General Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Staff, Ground Self-Defence Force, Japan and discussed aspects of bilateral defence cooperation.
The Indian Army said in a tweet, "General Manoj Pande #COAS had a video telephonic interaction with General Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Staff, Ground Self-Defence Force, #Japan and discussed aspects of bilateral Defence Cooperation."
During his visit to Tokyo last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida had agreed to further enhance bilateral security and defence cooperation, including in the area of defence manufacturing.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries. Over the years, this bilateral partnership has steadily progressed, with New Delhi and Tokyo becoming 'Special Strategic and Global' partners in 2015.
