Indigenously developed technologies to shine in Lucknow DefExpo

Lucknow: The indigenously developed military technologies of India will add more sparkle to the Lucknow DefExpo that is being held from February 5-8 in the state capital of Uttar Pradesh. The 11th edition of the biennial defence manufacturing event has so far got a booking confirmation from more than 1000 exhibitors that include both foreign and local manufacturers. "More than 800 Indian and about 150 foreign defence technology makers," said Awanish Awasthi (IAS), who is the nodal officer of the Defence Expo in Lucknow.

The Nodal officer said, “This is a great opportunity for the state to attract foreign technology manufacturers in India and help boost the ‘Make In India’ scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides Indian manufacturers getting a chance to show their technologies to people coming from other parts of the world.” “I can see there is a great enthusiasm among the Indian companies to participate in this event,” he added.

Opportunity to shine for the local manufacturers

Kanpur based defence tech manufacturer MKU which produces bulletproof jackets and helmets has also confirmed its participation at the Defence Expo 2020. Rajesh Gupta, one of the office-bearers of the MKU told on the phone that this is a big occasion for them as they would be able to display their range of military products.
He said, “Other than displaying our newly designed bulletproof jacket based on the eco-skeleton technology the company will also display rugged thermal wear sights for a different range of rifles that offers better performance even in conditions with zero visibility.”

It may also be mentioned that the Kanpur ordnance factory has also confirmed its participation in the Defence Expo-2020. Uttar Pradesh minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Siddharthnath Singh tells this reporter that as per the later information available with him over 80 MSMEs have confirmed their participation. “We have allotted them a special pavilion and this is the very first time that a special pavilion in the defence sector was allotted with an aim to bring investment in the country,” he says.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles will also be put on display

The Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which are designed to counter enemy threats through aerial surveillance will also be put on display in the event. As per the information obtained from the defence officials, AIRavat T12, AIRavat T90, Alfa-S UAS, Drone Bullet, Rattler-Super Sonic target, SDE Spectre, Mini Black Bird 1280 will also be a part of the display under the UAV section at the defence expo.

Entry for the public would be free on February 8 and 9 (Indians and foreigners) while business visitors will visit the expo on February 5 and 7. The visitors coming to see Lucknow DefExpo however, are supposed to carry government-issued ID cards on the public days.
