New Delhi: Andhra University has bagged 10 defence research projects for the Indian Navy. This is the first time the Indian Navy has collaborated with a state university for the research work. The research projects include developing a semantic-based research engine for defence intranet, and a submarine battery monitoring system.

These projects involve the latest technologies like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fuel cells, nanotechnology, corrosion engineering, metallurgical engineering, shipbuilding technology, and naval architecture.

Registrar of the Andhra University Prof V Krishna Mohan said these projects will be jointly executed by the AU Centre for Defence Studies and AU College of Engineering.
He further said University over time has developed rich academic and training programmes in military affairs.

These projects are expected to improve the collaboration of Andhra University with the Armed Forces and further boost the indigenous capabilities in the defence sector as well.
Andhra University has got India's first 'Centre for Defence Studies. This was officially launched by the then President Ram Nath Kovind in 2017. Through the Centre, the university offers various academic and training programmes to the defence personnel.
