New Delhi: The Director-General of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) VS Pathania has on Tuesday reviewed the force's operational preparedness and coastal security mechanism of the north-western seafront.

During his maiden visit to the region after taking over charge as the ICG Chief, the flag officer was briefed about the Coast Guard's preparedness to tackle maritime emergencies such as marine oil spills, grounding of ships and cyclones.

Earlier, he inspected a Guard of Honour in presence of IG and Commander Coast Guard (North West) AK Harbola at Porbandar. The DG also interacted with officers and sailors.

"DG @IndiaCoastGuard on his 03 days maiden visit to Coast Guard Region (North West) reviewed the operational readiness of forwarding bases at #Gujarat", tweeted ICG.
