New Delhi: The 16th round of Corps Commander level talks between India and China is likely to be at the end of this week on July 17. The talks will focus to resolve the issues in remaining friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

According to the highly placed sources, both sides are expected to discuss disengagement from existing friction points in Depsang plains, Gogra and hot springs.

Indian Side has maintained that it will agree to a de-escalation only if the withdrawal happens by both sides and addresses mutual security concerns.

As per the reports, the Chinese Army has pulled back its troops from the Galwan valley, PP-15 and Hot Springs in Eastern Ladakh area by 2-2.5 kms. The Indian side has also pulled back some of its troops and vehicles from these areas.

The last round of Commander level talks between the Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) took place on March 11.

The eastern Ladakh border standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies erupted on May 5, 2020, following a violent clash in the Pangong lake area. Both sides gradually enhanced their deployment by rushing in tens of thousands of soldiers as well as heavy weaponry.

After a series of military and diplomatic talks, the two sides completed the disengagement process last year in the north and south banks of the Pangong lake and in the Gogra area.
