In a first, Army hosts UN National Investigation Officers’ Course

New Delhi: Indian Army has hosted the First UN National Investigation Officers’ Course. It was organised by the Centre for the United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) Indian Army in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) in the USA and UNHQ, New York, from 18-28 April 2022.

The course concluded today with the valedictory address by the Foreign Secretary HV Shringla.

The Indian Army said in a tweet, “1st #UN National Investigation Officers’ Course conducted by #IndianArmy in collaboration with Global Peace Operations Initiative, #USA & Integrated Training Services, #UNHQ, concluded today with a valedictory address by Mr HV Shringla, #ForeignSecretary of India.”

According to the Indian Army, a total of 20 international participants and six Officers from the force attended the two-week-long UN National Investigation Officers course.

National Investigation Officers are military officers serving in the UN peacekeeping missions that are assigned to deploying units to investigate and document incidents of potential misconduct and gather evidence so that troop-contributing countries can take effective disciplinary and legal action when it is required.

CUNPK is a joint venture of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Service Headquarters and serves as a Centre of Excellence in collaboration with the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) and various other Governmental and Non-Governmental agencies. It was raised in the year 2000.
