New Delhi: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari has felicitated the UPSC Civil Services Exam topper Ms Ishita Kishore.

The Indian Air Force in a tweet said, "Daughter of an IAF Veteran & an alumna of Air Force Bal Bharti School, the CAS complimented her on her recent success and wished her a fruitful & rewarding career ahead."

Ishita in a tweet said, "As the daughter of an Air Force officer, this has been my greatest moment. Thank you Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari sir! This medal will be my most prized possession."

Ishita, a Delhi University graduate has topped the prestigious Civil Services Exam this year. This was her third attempt. She did her schooling from Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi.

Her father Wing Commander Sanjay Kishore was an Indian Air Force officer. Coming from a family with a strong military background, she developed a deep-rooted passion for serving the nation.The Economics graduate from Delhi's Shri Ram College of Commerce now wants to "serve the country by joining the Indian Administrative Services (IAS)".

"After my failed attempts, I reminded myself why I started in the first place. I wanted to serve my country, and my family played a huge role during my low points. Both my immediate and extended family constantly expressed their belief in me and encouraged me to keep going," she had said in a tweet after the results came out.

The UPSC examination is conducted every year in three stages – preliminary, main, and interview – to select officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), and other services.

Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra secured the second, third, and fourth ranks respectively in the examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

This is the second year in a row that women candidates got the top three ranks in the prestigious exam.
