New Delhi: Indian Army chief Gen Manoj Pande on Thursday visited strategic Northern Command to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness.

The Indian Army in a tweet said, "Gen Manoj Pande #COAS visited Headquarters @NorthernComd_IA & reviewed the operational preparedness. #COAS interacted with the Commanders & troops and appreciated them for high standards of professionalism & devotion to duty."

"The army chief was briefed on the security situation in the region. The high level of operational readiness being maintained by the forces while maintaining a high tempo of capability development was highlighted," said a defence spokesperson.

This was followed by a detailed discussion on issues related to civil-military cooperation and the role of the army in development activities in the union territory.
