New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande on Wednesday held a video interaction with Bangladeshi Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed. Both sides discussed ways to further bolster the defence ties between the two countries.

The Indian Army said, "Gen Manoj Pande #COAS had a video interaction with General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff, #BangladeshArmy and discussed ways to enhance the defence cooperation between both the Nations."

Defence is an important part of India Bangladesh relations. They have signed an agreement on defence cooperation and have undertaken joint military exercises along with training and capacity building exercises on a regular basis.

India has extended a $500 million line of credit to Bangladesh for defence imports from India and has gifted 18 new 120mm mortars to the Bangladesh Army under army-to-army cooperation.
