Flood Relief: IAF escalates Relief Ops in Assam and Meghalaya

New Delhi: As most part of India's north-eastern region is affected by floods, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has escalated flood relief operations. IAF is continuing flood relief operations in Assam and Meghalaya states in the northeastern part of India since June 21, 2022. Since then, IAF has flown around 74 missions, rescued 253 stranded persons and dropped more than 200 tonnes of relief material as part of the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation, conducted in aid to the civil administration of the affected areas.

The IAF said in a tweet on Saturday, "Continuing its efforts to provide relief to the flood-affected populace of Assam and Meghalaya since past 4 days, #IAF has airlifted 203 Tonnes of relief material in 74 HADR missions while also rescuing 253 stranded personnel utilising various helicopter and transport aircraft."

IAF has deployed C-130J Super Hercules, An-32 transport aircraft, Mi-17V5 helicopters, Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv and Mi-17 helicopters to provide relief aid and supplies to the people stranded in these areas.

IAF's flood relief operations are in progress in coordination with the civil administration.
