DRDO: 1000 days of 79 successful projects including Missiles, Radars, Torpedoes & much more

New Delhi: "During the past three years, 79 projects amounting to Rs 8,201 crores directly pertaining to the development of new defence equipment i.e. Cruise Missile, Anti-Ship Missile, Surface-to-Air Missile, Air-to-Air Missile, Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket, Mounted Gun System, Ammunitions, Electronic Warfare System, Radars, Torpedoes, High Endurance Autonomous Underwater Vehicle etc. have been undertaken," Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik told Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question asked by a member Naik mentioned that some of the DRDO developed systems that are likely to be available to our defence personnel during 2021-23. ASTRA Missile (2021), Anti Drone System (2021), SATCOM Devices (2021), QRSAM (2022), ADFCR (2022), Helina (2022), ADTCR (2022), Guided Bomb (2022), NAG (2022), NGARM (2023), SAAW (2023) are few of those systems.

Many DRDO developed technologies such as BattleField Surveillance Rader (BFSR), Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) Jammers, 5.56 mm Rifle, 40 mm Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBRL), Oleo Resin (OR) Grenade etc are being utilized by the state police, the minister said.

Some of the systems that have proven their worth and value over time have been upgraded too by DRDO. The degradation of Arjun Mk-1A, Akash-NG, Light Combat Aircraft Mk-1A, Medium Power Radar-Extended Range, and PINAKA- Extended Range Guided-missile are a few of them.

Electronics & Communication System

DRDO has successfully developed Unified Mission Computer for SU-30 MKI aircraft, Internal EW System for MIG-29 Upgrade Aircraft, EW systems for Naval platforms too during the period.
