Satellite Pic shows, China Building New Bridge Over Pangong Lake

New Delhi: China is constructing a second bridge in its area around the strategically key Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh. The latest satellite imagery has shown it. Highly placed sources told Defence Watch that these infrastructural developments will help the Chinese military quickly mobilise its troops in the region.

The bridge is being built amid the standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies in eastern Ladakh for over two years.

Freelance #OSINT Damien Symon also tweeted the satellite image showing Chinese bridge construction. "Continued monitoring of the bridge construction at #PangongTso shows the further development on-site, new activity shows a larger bridge being developed parallel to the first. likely in order to support larger/heavier movement over the lake", he tweeted.

Both countries have held 15 rounds of military talks to date to resolve the standoff. The two sides completed the disengagement process last year on the north and south banks of the Pangong lake and in the Gogra area as decided during the talks.

According to the sources, China has recently completed the construction of the first bridge in the area.

They said the new bridge is being built in the Pangong lake in an area that is over 20 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

There was no official reaction or comment by the Indian defence establishment on the new construction.
