Navy Chief interacts with personnel deployed at remote locations through VC

New Delhi: Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar on Thursday initiated a series of interactions with personnel deployed at remote and outlying naval locations over video calls. According to Indian Navy officials, Adm R Hari Kumar spoke with MARCOS deployed at detachments across the country.

MARCOS are a special elite force of the Indian Navy. The force was formed in 1987 and was earlier known as Marine Commando Force or MCF. It specializes in underwater and sub-anti-piracy operations to counter-terrorism. At the same time, they also carry out their operations on the ground.

"Initiating a series of interactions with personnel deployed at remote/outlying naval locations over video calls #ConnectwithCNS, Adm R Hari Kumar spoke with #MARCOS deployed at detachments across the country", the Indian Navy tweeted after the interaction.

During the interaction Chief of the Naval Staff acknowledged their presence in vital locations and stressed the importance of being combat-ready at all times.

They said it was the first of its kind initiative which was aimed at connecting with the personnel deployed in remote and far-flung areas.

Personnel deployed at remote locations do not get frequent opportunities to interact with senior brass. The initiative of the Navy Chief will give a sense to those deployed in the remote areas that they are not left out, they added.
