New Delhi: Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar took over as the Director General of Artillery on May 1, 2023. Earlier, he was serving as the Director General Land, Works & Environment.
Indian Army in a tweet said, "Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar assumed appointment of the Director General of Artillery on 01 May 2023. Prior to assuming this key appointment, he was serving as the Director General Land, Works & Environment."
Lt Gen Kumar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in 1986.
The Regiment of Artillery is a major combat support arm and it has around 280 units that handle various gun systems including Bofors howitzers, Dhanush, M-777 howitzers and K-9 Vajra self-propelled guns. It is the second largest arm constitutes a formidable operational arm of Indian Army.
The Regiment made history last week when for the first time the Indian Army inducted five women officers into the Artillery. While three of them have been posted to frontline formations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, the two women officers have been deployed in "challenging locations" near the frontier with Pakistan.
