New Delhi: Media reports have claimed that Chinese soldiers are building underground bunkers on Line of Control. They have also revealed that Unmanned aircraft (drones) and unmanned combat aircraft (combat drones) are also being provided to the Pakistan Army.

As per the reports, Pakistan is also setting up communication towers along the Line of Control with the help of China by laying underground cables. Tunnels are being made in Lipa Valley. China wants to strengthen its position as an all-weather friend of Pakistan. Officials said that recently SH-15 howitzer guns have been sighted at some places along the LoC.

According to London-based Jane's Defense Magazine, Pakistan had signed a contract with Chinese company North Industries Group Corporation Limited (Norinco) for the supply of 236 Sh-15s. its first consignment was received in January 2022. The presence of senior PLA officers at the forward posts was not found, but it is learned that Chinese soldiers and engineers are building infrastructure along the LoC, including construction of underground bunkers. The army has kept silence on this issue but it is continuously updating the intelligence agencies.

As per the experts, the Chinese Army's presence in PoK is due to Beijing's $46 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), under which the Gwadar port in Karachi will be linked to China's Xinjiang province via the Karakoram Highway. It is learned that Chinese experts are digging some tunnels in the Lipa Valley in PoK in preparation for building an all-weather road, which will serve as an alternate route to reach the Karakoram Highway. Pakistan is also setting up communication towers in PoK.

China has sent an estimated 36,000 security guards to PoK to protect its hydro-electric projects and other infrastructure projects from terrorist attacks. He is also settling villages in PoK. is supplying 10 CH-4A drones, which are designed for high altitude missions and can strike from a range of up to 5,000 metres. It has also given 48 Wing Loong-III drones to Pakistan for surveillance.
