New Delhi: Chief of the Army Staff General MM Naravane has called upon the Indian Army to transform from a manpower-intensive force to a technologically empowered force. He was speaking at the ongoing Army Commanders' Conference in New Delhi. Gen Naravane also stressed the need to focus on the primary roles and conventional operations of the Force.
The Indian Army said in a series of tweets, "General MM Naravane #COAS addressed the Army Commanders & senior officers of #IndianArmy during the ongoing Army Commanders' Conference #ACC-22. #COAS said "We need to continue our focus on Conventional Operations and on our Primary Role. We must continue to strive to move from a manpower-intensive to a technology-oriented Army and get technologically empowered and enabled."
Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari also addressed the Army Commanders' Conference in New Delhi on Tuesday. He spoke on contemporary military issues including 'Network-Centric Warfare' and 'Integrated Application of Combat Power'.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to interact with the senior commanders and address the Conference on 21 April 2022. The conference is also a formal forum for senior leadership of the Indian Army to interact with the senior functionaries of the Department of Military Affairs and Department of Defence during the MoD Interaction Session.
The Conference is held in April and October every year. The conference is an institutional platform for conceptual level deliberations, culminating in making important policy decisions for the Indian Army.
