Pune: A total of 121 medical graduates from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune were were commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services on April 29, 2023. A spectacular ceremony was held at Capt Devashish Sharma Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, AFMC on this occasion.
Lt Gen Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM, PHS, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) & Senior Colonel Commandant, AMC was the chief guest for the ceremony. The DGAFMS reviewed the Commissioning parade that was commanded by cadet Prabhat Tiwari.
According to the Defence Ministry, a total of 140 graduates of the college including four students from foreign countries, passed the final MBBS examinations of MUHS in the winter session of 2022. 98 Gentlemen Cadets and 23 Lady Cadets were commissioned to serve in the Armed Forces. Ninety six were commissioned into the Army, 11 were commissioned into the Navy and 14 were commissioned into the Air Force.
The commissioning ceremony was followed by an Academic awards presentation ceremony. Two of the most coveted awards of the institute, the 'President's Gold Medal' and the 'Kalinga Trophy', were awarded to Medical Cadet Sagnik Talukdar.
AFMC has consistently ranked amongst the top colleges in the country and is ranked 37th amongst the Best Medical Schools in the world, according to a survey by the CEOWORLD Magazine in 2022. Graduates of the institute have done the nation proud through their service in the midst of natural calamities, pandemics, global disasters and war.
