New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard Ship (Auxiliary Barge) Urja Pravaha has been inducted into the Indian Coast Guard service at Shoft Shipyard, Bharuch, Gujarat on Tuesday. The Auxiliary Barge Urja Pravaha will be based at Kochi under the operational command of Coast Guard District Headquarters-4, Kochi.

As per the Defence Spokesperson, the induction ceremony was conducted at Bharuch and Coast Guard and shipyard officials along with dignitaries from various agencies attended the induction ceremony.

Auxiliary Urja Pravaha is 36.96 Metres long with a draft of 1.85 Metres and is designed to carry cargo ship fuel, aviation fuel and fresh water with a capacity of 50 Ton, 10 Ton and 40 Ton respectively.

The Induction of a new barge to the Indian Coast Guard will definitely enhance the Coast Guard's operational capability at sea by extending desired logistics support for ships deployed at far-flung areas in the maritime operational area including the Exclusive Economic Zone and Lakshadweep/ Minicoy Islands.
