New Delhi: Lieutenant General SS Mahal on Friday assumed the command of Army Training Command (ARTRAC). On assuming command, the Army Commander reviewed the Guard of Honour & exhorted all ranks to continue working with zeal & enthusiasm, said the Indian Army.

Lieutenant General SS Mahal has served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the elite Kharga Corps at Ambala Cantonment, which is considered as the most formidable of the Army's three strike corps.

Lt Gen Mahal brings a plenitude of experience from his previous tenure in the military operations directorate.

ARTRAC came into being on 01 October 1991, at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. It subsequently shifted to Shimla on 31 March 1993. It acts as the nodal agency for all institutional training in the Army.
