New Delhi: Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar has been appointed as the next Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO). He is presently the Commander of strategic 1 Corps which is responsible for offensive operations against both Pakistan and China.
Lt Gen Katiyar will take over from Lt. Gen. B. S. Raju on May 1. Lt Gen Raju is taking over as an Army Commander.
He has also served as Director of General Staff Duties at Army Headquarters.
Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the 23rd Battalion of the Rajput Regiment in June 1986. He later commanded the battalion along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Arunachal Pradesh.
Lt Gen Katiyar has also commanded an infantry brigade along the Western borders and also of a mountain division and also served as an instructor in the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan and at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
He has attended the National Defence College, New Delhi, and also graduated from the prestigious National War College in the US.
