New Delhi: Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. He is currently serving as Director (Operations) in the same organisation.
Upadhyay has been recommended for the post of CMD of GSL from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on March 24. Out of six candidates, two candidates were from GSL itself and one each from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), Indian Telecommunication Service and the Indian Navy.
As CMD of GSL, Upadhyay will be a chief executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its board of directors and the government. He will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the company for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters, promoting indigenisation under the Atma Nirbhar scheme of the government.
