New Delhi: The Indian Army has cautioned against fake messages being spread on social media seeking donations to assist Battle Casualties & their dependents and also to buy weapons & equipment for the armed force.

It said in a tweet, "#Fake Messages are being circulated on Social Media about a bank account specially opened to extend assistance to Battle Casualties & their dependents and also to buy weapons & equipment for #IndianArmy. Beware of such fraudulent messages."

Indian Army operates two accounts – Army Central Welfare Fund and Army Battle  Casualties Welfare Fund – for the welfare of Veer Naris, Battle Casualties & their dependents and these accounts are solely used for the same. Donations/Contributions to these are voluntary. Authenticated details are available at the Indian Army homepage, it added.
