New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has visited the headquarters of US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), a unified combatant command of America's armed forces for the Indo-Pacific region.
On his arrival from Washington DC, the US Indo-Pacific Command Chief Admiral John Aquilino received him with honour ceremony at the HQ in Hawaii.
According to the Defence Officials, the Minister held high-level interactions with the top leadership of the USINDOPACOM to discuss further strengthening of India-US defence ties. During the meeting Mr Singh reaffirmed India's commitment to work together for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific, amidst China's aggressive actions in the region.
Mr. Singh also visited the Pacific Fleet and the several training facilities of US Army Pacific (USARPAC) located on the Oahu Island.
He tweeted after the visit, "Visited various training sites of @USARPAC located around the island of Oahu. The Military to Military relationship between India and the United States has been strengthened in recent years."
The Defence Minister also laid wreath at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii.
USINDOPACOM is a unified combatant command of the United States Armed Forces responsible for the key Indo-Pacific region. The Command and Indian military have wide-ranging engagements, including a number of military exercises, training events and exchanges.
