Bangladesh Army Chief embarks on a three day visit to India

New Delhi: Bangladesh Army Chief General S M Shafiuddin has left for India from Dhaka on a three day official visit on April 26, 2023. He is visiting India on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Chief of  Army Staff (CAS) General Manoj Pande. 

The visiting Army Chief will review the passing out parade of the officer cadets in Chennai. 

During his visit, General Shafiuddin will also hold talks with the Chiefs of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). He will also call on Defence Secretary and Foreign Secretary during his visit to India. 

An Inter Services Press Relations (ISPR), Bangladesh press release said, General S M Shafiuddin will hold discussions on a range of issues related to the bilateral relations between the armed forces of the two countries. 

He will also visit important establishments of the Indian Army. Bangladesh Army Chief Shafiuddin will return to Bangladesh on 30th April. 

India and Bangladesh share deep defence ties. Besides, military cooperation, Bangladesh is India's biggest trade partner in South Asia and India is the second biggest trade partner of Bangladesh. 

Three sides of Bangladesh's land border are shared with India, and one side runs along the Bay of Bengal. Both the countries share 4096.7 km. of border, which is the longest land boundary that India shares with any of its neighbours.
