New Delhi: Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar, AVSM has taken charge as the Commandant, Air Force Academy, Indian Air Force. Air Force Academy is the premier Training centre of the Indian Air Force based in Hyderabad and is considered as the cradle of training for pilots, ground duty and technical officers of IAF.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in December 1984. He is also an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Flying Instructors' School, College of Defence Management and National Defence College, New Delhi.

Air Marshal has more than 5,400 hours of flying on various aircraft. He also holds the distinction of landing the first MLH class of helicopter in the Siachen Glacier and he is also a Qualified Flying Instructor.

In his distinguished career spanning close to four decades, he has held important staff appointments and steered the services and other administrative issues to facilitate the induction of Chinook Helicopters and Rafale aircraft in the Eastern Sector. He was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2020.
