62nd raising day of Trishakti Corps celebrated

New Delhi: The Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army celebrated its 62nd Raising Day on 10 May at Sukna with military elan & traditional gaiety. "Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Trishakti Corps laid a wreath at Sukna War Memorial and paid homage to the brave hearts on 62nd Raising Day of the Trishakti Corps", an Indian Army spokesperson said on Tuesday, May 10.

33 Corps of the Indian Army is popularly known as the Trishakti Corps. The Corps under Eastern Command is responsible for guarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in the Sikkim sector.

The Corps was raised in 1942 and participated in the Burma Campaign during World War II. It was subsequently demobilized after the successful completion of the task at Rangoon in May 1945.

Trishakti Corps was later re-raised at Shillong on 10 May 1960 and moved to Sukna in 1962. Over the years, the Corps has successfully safeguarded the Indian borders and thwarted all threats, both external and internal, in a steadfast manner living up to its motto of "AADI ANANT AJEYA".

Since 1960, the Corps has played a significant geostrategic role in all the major conflicts like the 1961 war of Liberation of Goa, 1967 Natu La – Chola Skirmishes and the 1971 War. During the 1971 War, the Corps played a pivotal role in Bangladesh Mukti Sangram.
