New Delhi: The 15th round of Corps Commander-level talks between India and China to end the 22-month standoff at the remaining friction areas concluded late last night at the Chushul-Moldo border point on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LoC) in eastern Ladakh. The meeting lasted for around 13 hours and concluded at 11 pm.

According to a joint press release issued today, both the sides carried forward their discussions from the previous round for the resolution of the relevant issues along the LAC in the Western Sector. They had a detailed exchange of views in this regard, in keeping with the guidance provided by the State Leaders to work for the resolution of the remaining issues at the earliest.

As per the release, the two sides reaffirmed that such a resolution would help restore peace and tranquility along the LAC in the Western Sector and facilitate progress in bilateral relations.

The two sides also agreed to maintain the security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector in the interim. They agreed to maintain dialogue via military and diplomatic channels to reach a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues at the earliest.

The Indian side was led by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, the Commander of the Leh-based 14 Corps, while Major Gen Yang Lin, South Xinjiang Military District Commander, led the Chinese contingent for the Senior Highest Military Commander Level talks.

The 14th round of talks which had taken place two months back, on January 12, could not yield any significant outcome in resolving the row.

The countries still have around 50,000 troops each on both sides along the Line of Actual Control in the area.
